OFFICER SPONSORSHIP PROGRAM

OPEN OFFICER SPONSORSHIP

When Adopt A Cop BJJ opens officer sponsorship applications, eligible law enforcement officers may apply for financial support to train Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu through an approved AACBJJ Affiliate Academy.

Our sponsorship program is designed to do more than provide a discounted gym membership. It creates a structured opportunity for officers to train consistently, develop meaningful grappling skills, remain accountable to their progress, and become part of the Adopt A Cop BJJ community.

HOW THE PROGRAM WORKS

Approved Sponsored Officers are connected with or confirmed at an approved AACBJJ Affiliate Academy.

Depending on the academy and available sponsorship, an officer may receive:

  • A fully sponsored academy membership

  • A reduced-rate membership supported by AACBJJ

  • An AACBJJ-funded sponsorship

  • Another approved sponsorship arrangement

Sponsorship availability depends on current funding, affiliate academy capacity, geographic availability, and overall program capacity.

Submitting an application does not guarantee sponsorship.

WHO SHOULD APPLY?

The traditional AACBJJ sponsorship program is primarily intended for currently employed, sworn law enforcement officers whose regular duties involve direct interaction with the public.

Applicants should:

  • Be actively employed as a sworn law enforcement officer

  • Perform public-facing or operational duties

  • Be below the rank of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu blue belt

  • Be willing to train consistently

  • Be willing to complete monthly program requirements

  • Train at, or be willing to train at, an approved AACBJJ Affiliate Academy

  • Remain in good standing with both AACBJJ and their academy

Some assignments may require individual eligibility review.

THE APPLICATION PROCESS

1. SUBMIT YOUR APPLICATION

Complete the online Officer Sponsorship Application with accurate information about your agency, assignment, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu experience, location, and academy.

2. ELIGIBILITY REVIEW

AACBJJ will review your application and verify that you meet the current eligibility requirements.

Additional information may be requested when necessary.

3. ACADEMY CONFIRMATION

If you already train at an AACBJJ Affiliate Academy, we will confirm the academy's participation and sponsorship availability.

If you do not currently train at an affiliate academy, AACBJJ may review available affiliate gyms in your area.

Academy placement and sponsorship are subject to availability.

4. APPLICATION DECISION

Depending on eligibility and available resources, applicants may be:

  • Approved for sponsorship

  • Approved as an AACBJJ Officer Member without immediate financial sponsorship

  • Placed on a sponsorship waitlist

  • Asked to provide additional information

  • Determined ineligible under the current program guidelines

5. COMPLETE ONBOARDING

Approved Sponsored Officers must complete required onboarding before sponsorship begins.

This may include:

  • Officer Participation Agreement

  • AACBJJ Liability Waiver

  • Eligibility verification

  • Academy confirmation

  • Attendance requirements acknowledgment

  • Reimbursement or sponsorship instructions

  • Program orientation

You are not considered an Active Sponsored Officer until AACBJJ confirms that onboarding is complete.

6. START TRAINING

Once activated, you may begin participating under your approved sponsorship arrangement.

From there, the responsibility shifts to you:

Show up. Train consistently. Stay accountable.

WHAT IS EXPECTED OF SPONSORED OFFICERS?

AACBJJ is supported by donors, sponsors, affiliate academies, and individuals who believe in providing officers with greater access to training.

We expect officers receiving that support to take the opportunity seriously.

Sponsored Officers are normally expected to:

TRAIN AT LEAST 8 DAYS PER MONTH

Officers should complete Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu training on at least eight separate days per calendar month.

Multiple classes completed on the same day count as one training day.

We understand that law enforcement schedules can be unpredictable. Reasonable exceptions and leave options may be available for legitimate circumstances such as injury, mandatory overtime, deployment, extended illness, or significant family circumstances.

COMPLETE YOUR MONTHLY CHECK-IN

Sponsored Officers complete a short monthly electronic check-in.

This allows AACBJJ to track:

  • Training attendance

  • Continued eligibility

  • Belt progression

  • Academy changes

  • Reimbursement requests

  • Leave or exception requests

  • Program needs and feedback

VERIFY YOUR TRAINING

Attendance may be verified through academy records, instructor confirmation, electronic check
